MAN SHOT BY LEWISBURG POLICE - State Police are investigating the death of a Lewisburg man who was shot by a Lewisburg officer after the man threatened suicide, then later brandished a gun at police.
Officers from the Lewisburg Police Department responded to a 911 call around 12:30 a.m. Monday.
Dead is Vernon Lee Propps age 68.
After officers arrived they were able to assist a female leaving the residence to a safe location.
Police said Propps refused to leave the residence.
After establishing verbal communication with the man, the situation deteriorated and the man exited the residence and brandished a firearm at the officers, reports, say.
A Lewisburg officer fired one shot and Propps was transported to Greenbrier Valley Medical Center where he died around 3 a.m.
MORGANTOWN MAN ARRESTED IN PARTY SHOOTING, FIRES 12 SHOTS - The Morgantown Police have arrested a man they believe shot into a crowded house party on on August 3rd.
A criminal complaint says it was David Robertson's idea to return with a gun after another man, Isaac King, fought with someone at the party.
Police say King and a third man, Michael Thompson, were with Roberston during the shooting, but that it was Robertson who fired more than a dozen shots at the house.
One of those shots hit 19-year-old David Moore in the back.
King and Thompson are charged with wanton endangerment and conspiracy, Robertson faces malicious assault, wanton endangerment, and conspiracy charges.
