SEPT. 8 - Three inmates who escaped from the Salem Industrial Home for Youth in Harrison County Monday, considered a maximum security facility, have been arrested in Kansas.
The teens were convicted of charges ranging from attempted murder to malicious assault.
Basehor, Kansas Police Chief Lloyd Martley arrested the trio at 1:30 Wednesday morning.
The officer was responding to another call about some break-ins at local construction sites when they heard dogs barking, and went to see what was going on.
They saw three suspicious individuals walking in a yard nearby, according to Chief Martley, after which the teens took off.
They were apprehended after a short foot pursuit.
Greathouse, a Roane County native, allegedly pulled a screwdriver on one of the officers, said Chief Martley.
They admitted they had just broken into a local church in search of food and money.
While they were inside the church, a phone rang, and they left because they thought they had set off an alarm.
The trio will be extradited back to Harrison County.
They're also facing charges of burglary, obstruction, and possession of stolen property and Greathouse is also facing a charge of aggravated assault.
They're currently at the Leavenworth County Jail, with no bond set.
The Ford Ranger pickup truck stolen near the Salem Industrial Home for Youth was found in Brewster, Ohio.
They allegedly stole a red Toyota Celica out of Ohio, which was recovered in Basehor.
