WOMAN KILLED IN CAR - Charleston Police say 48-year-old Beverly Simley was shot and killed Tuesday morning just outside a West Side bar where she worked.
Simley, the mother of several children, was found in her car.
Investigators say she had been shot at least once. Police believe the murder occurred at about 3:20 a.m. Tuesday.
The car was parked in front of The Bird House Cafe & Lounge, a bar that police say had few problems.
GUNFIRE AT KANAWHA SCHOOL - Two Cross Lanes men were arrested after a fight broke out in the parking lot of Andrew Jackson Middle School with gunfire, with one suspect taking aim at a policeman.
Fred W. Hammon Jr., 29, and Anthony Wayne Randolph, 21, were arrested after police responded to a call of shots being fired at the Cross Lanes middle school at 7 p.m. Monday.
Cpl. J.S. Cochran of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department arrived to find a large group of suspects fighting. Upon the deputy's arrival, one of the suspects allegedly threw a handgun in Cochran's direction.
Police say their investigation found that two groups of people had met in the parking lot to return money one had allegedly stole from the other.
When an argument escalated, shots were fired.
Hammon was charged with three counts of wanton endangerment for allegedly firing a pistol and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Randolph was charged with two counts of unlawful wounding for allegedly striking two individuals with brass knuckles.
TWO SHOT IN KANAWHA - Two people were shot and severely injured Sunday night at a home in the village of Frame, Kanawha County.
A resident of a home on Aaron's Fork Road in Frame called 911 shortly after 11 p.m. to report that he had allegedly shot two people.
Police said a woman was shot once and a man was hit at least
twice, both were taken to Charleston Area Medical Center.
Kanawha County Sheriff's deputies arrested the homeowner, Michael Edward Hall, Jr. with malicious wounding charges.
HANSFORD STABBING - Kanawha County sheriff's deputies reported a stabbing Sunday night in Hansford.
A 25-year-old man was stabbed at a residence and was also bleeding from being punched in the face. The call came in at around 9 p.m.
A suspect reportedly hid in a one-story building several houses from where the man was stabbed, according to authorities.
MORGANTOWN BANK ROBBERY - Morgantown Police are looking for information about an armed bank robbery last Friday.
Police say a man entered a back door of the BB&T Bank on Chestnut Ridge Rd. around 10:15 a.m.
The man pulled a black semi-automatic handgun, and demanded money.
He took off through the back door with an undetermined amount of cash.
No one was injured during the robbery.
MAN SHOOTS SELF IN STOMACH - A Fayette County man shot himself in the stomach early Saturday following a domestic incident, according to the Fayette Sheriff's Department.
Patrick Charles Legg, 48, of Victor, was taken to CAMC Saturday after county deputies responded to a call from Legg's girlfriend.
She claimed that he was acting strangely and was destroying the couple's home, according to the sheriff's department.
Legg shot himself in the stomach when police arrived and approached the house.
WOMAN SHOT AND STRUCK WITH BAT - A 58-year-old Berkeley Springs man is in custody after allegedly shooting a 26-year-old woman twice with a shotgun and then assaulting her with a baseball bat in his driveway, according to the West Virginia State Police.
Robert Allen Gretsinger was arrested Saturday night on charges of attempted murder and malicious wounding.
According to police reports, the victim, identified by police as 26-year-old Carrie Lowe, was outside Gretsinger's home and wanted to borrow his truck.
They say Gretsinger refused, and Lowe went into his house, grabbed the keys and went to take the truck.
Gretsinger followed Lowe out of the house with a shotgun and ordered Lowe to get to the ground.
Gretsinger allegedly fired several shots, striking Lowe in the chest and lower back.
Lowe then continued to walk away from the residence when Gretsinger allegedly grabbed a baseball bat, caught up with Lowe and struck her in the head several times, according to police.
SECURITY OFFICER STABBED - It happened around 5:00 a.m. Sunday on Chestnut Ridge Road near the Mylan Pharmaceuticals Plant, according to officials in Monongalia County.
A security officer for Mylan was allegedly stabbed in the face and hand and was taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital.
Callers told officials the suspect was last seen running toward a nearby trailer park after the incident.
The Monongalia County Sheriff's Department is investigating.
DETROIT MEN ARRESTED - A Detroit man was arrested at Charleston's Greyhound bus station after he was found with illegal guns and drugs, Thursday.
Police say a man bought two bus tickets that he then took outside and gave to two men waiting around the corner at the station.
When police approached the two men, one of them, later identified as Bishop Gerald Allen, 23, of Detroit, fled.
Police caught up with him and found two handguns, 14 grams of crack cocaine and 55 Oxycontin pills in a duffel bag.
Allen was arrested and charged with fleeing, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of crack with intent to deliver and possession of Oxycontin with intent to deliver.
MAN SHOT BY FUTURE SON-IN-LAW - A Hurricane man is in the hospital
after he was shot by his future son-in-law, Thursday.
Johnie Comer's future father-in-law, Gary Hawk, showed up at his home and wanted a ride to see his wife in Dunbar. Hawk has a domestic violence petition against him barring him from seeing his wife.
Hawk continued to ask for a ride and started throwing rocks at Comer's trailer. Comer lives there with Hawk's daughter.
That is when deputies said Comer stuck a gun out the window and started firing shots.
Hawk was struck in the back of the head and hand.
Comer has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
