When Ritchie County scored its seventh touchdown of the night late in the fourth quarter the Calhoun band went into one of its routines playing the song "Wipeout."
Yep. It was the kind of evening.
The serenade came following the last of Ritchie's many touchdowns in a 46-6 pummeling of Calhoun which only evaded a shutout when it scored with 1:12 remaining.
Calhoun's silver lining? There was none.
Ritchie beat Calhoun about every possible way starting with what seemed to be total control of the line of scrimmage both on offense and defense.
Behind the dominance of the offensive line the Rebels were led by Reno Jackson who rushed for 194 yards and three touchdowns. Chazz Jones added two touchdowns and Travis Shepler and Darrenger Fluharty had one each.
Calhoun's lone score came on a four-yard run by Nathan Cosgrove.
When Bradley Riddle added the extra point following Ritchie County's first touchdown the Rebels, 1-1, had enough points to put things away.
But they didn't stop there taking a 20-0 halftime lead.
The Rebels expanded the lead in the third quarter and eventually pushed it out to 46 points before the Red Devils scored late.
Cory Metz led Calhoun with 63 yards on the ground while Bronson Clark added 55 more as Calhoun barely topped 100 yards rushing with 140 while adding 35 more through the air.
One area where Calhoun had decent statistics was on kickoff returns where Clark had two long returns to give the Red Devils 177 yards in returns. Clark had returns of 45 and 52 yards.
Calhoun returns to action this coming Friday night in its home-opener against Doddridge County.
