Cecil serves pie to his classmates at 2008 Calhoun reunion
Funeral services are set for 7 p.m. Wednesday at Stump Funeral Home in Grantsville for former Calhoun resident, teacher and coach, Cecil Johnson, 80.
Friends can call at the funeral home two hours prior to the service.
Johnson, 80, of Vincent Ohio, died suddenly on August 27 in Camden-Clark Hospital in Parkersburg.
A graduate of Calhoun County High School in 1948, he was also a graduate of Glenville State College in 1952, majoring in physical education. He was a coach and teacher at Calhoun County High School from 1953 to 1962.
He was a physical education teacher at Barlow-Vincent Elementary School, helping establish the first physical education program.
Johnson coached and taught in a number of eastern Ohio schools for more than 30 years, before retiring in 1991.
He is survived by his wife, Patty Floyd Johnson, a marriage of nearly 55 years.
He is also survived by his children, Thomas M. Johnson, Paula A. Graham, J. Daniel Johnson and Joseph F. Johnson, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Cecil was the son of the late C. Clyde and Iva Jarvis Johnson of Bull River, near Grantsville.
