Welcome back to Beason. The land of opportunity for "spreading the word." Those social networking sites are something else aren't they? Some use it for catching up with old friends, family or business purposes. While others feel it's the opportunity to turn someone's life into chaos. It's just very sad that people are vicious enough to do such nonsense. But, I guess when one puts themselves out there, that's the chance one takes. I also find it disturbing when schools use the sites to bash other schools. I think it's very disrespectful and uncalled for. I think its even worse when the sites are used to post video degrading other schools and people in general. When will people grow up and use the sites responsibly and not for hurtful purposes?

Congratulations to the Rebel Football team, the Rebel Cheerleaders and the Rebel Marching Band. Even though we didn't win, the Rebels came out on top for their class and dignity. If you lose with the respect of all your fans, parents, staff, etc. then that's all that matters. If you win with a hateful, spiteful attitude, that makes for poor representatives of the county and shows very poor sportsmanship. It's a shame that some schools go that extra mile to do that. I am thankful that our team demonstrated that they were coached and brought up better than that.

The Rebel football team staff has asked for donations of oranges and bananas for the kids to have during the game. The purpose for these donations is for keeping up the players' potassium levels. It is really important that they stay hydrated and have their electrolytes at the right levels. Please contact me for further details if you would like to make a donation. The team would appreciate your help very much.

School has started! Yay! We have completed the first week successfully. However, we have started this week by forgetting a book bag and a lunch box in my other vehicle. I am thankful that my other car was parked at the 7-11 and not in Morgantown. I am also thankful that I had the extra set of keys. I am really hoping tomorrow brings a better day.

Ethan and mom, Kathy

My sister has been coaching me about the PROMISE scholarship for college. She has been filling me in on classes that Ethan needs to take and how his grades should be. So, we are looking forward to getting all the hard stuff out of the way in the next couple years. He's taking high school Algebra this year in which I am zero help at all.

He is supposed to be in Honors Geometry next year. That subject should be interesting. Math just isn't my" thing". When I actually find out what my "thing" is, I will let you know.

I got to see the Black Crowes in concert last Sunday in Columbus. I cannot describe how awesome they were. I went with one of my nearest and dearest friends from high school. We hadn't been to a concert together since we were 17 years old. We got that feeling of excitement and high school wonderment all back again for a couple hours. It was great!

Remember this Friday night "under the lights" we take on the Red Devils from Calhoun County. Please come out and show your Rebel football team, Rebel Cheerleaders and the Rebel Marching Band some love! They will appreciate your support.

Have a great week.
