| Virginia Collins Smith, 94, of Akron, Ohio, was called home by her Lord
and Savior, Monday, August 23, 2010.
Virginia "Ginny" was born February 4, 1916 in
Calhoun County, W. Va., a daughter of the late
Henry Collins and Minerva Ellen Hickman.
She was
married to Raymond C. Smith in Grantsville, W. Va.
on September 8, 1934, and the family moved to
Akron in 1944. Virginia loved to cook, bake, and
spend time with her family and friends. She
enjoyed bowling well into her 80's.
We will never
forget those delicious pies, light bread buns and
biscuits, and the little dance she would do which
always made us smile. She will be deeply missed by
all of those whom she touched with her kindness
and loving spirit.
She is survived by daughters, Jean Rittenour,
Janice Aber, and Nadine (Bob) Kight, all of Akron,
and Pauline Fiume of Cuyahoga Falls Ohio. She is also
survived by 20 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 19
great-great grandchildren, and many beloved nieces
and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was
preceded in death by her husband, Raymond C.; son,
Raymond E.; eight brothers; two sisters; and two
grandsons.
Friends and family may call Thursday, August 26 from 5 to 8
p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd.,
Akron, where a funeral service will be held Friday, August 27
at 11 a.m. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
