Ruby Lamb Pritt of Glenville Care & Rehab Center, Glenville, West Virginia, went to be with her Lord on Friday morning August 13, 2010. She would have turned 92 on August 16. She had coped with diabetes and congestive heart failure for many years.
Ruby was born August 16, 1918 to William Judson "Jett" Lamb and Merle Varner Lamb in a logging camp in Greenbrier County but grew up on a small farm on the left side of Leading Creek in Gilmer County.
She attended the Cather School, Glenville High School and received a teaching degree from Glenville Normal School (now Glenville State College). She taught in many of the one-room schools in Gilmer County. On December 26, 1940 she married Ralph Hale Pritt and was a war bride after the United States entered WWII.
After Ralph returned from the war she gave up her teaching career to be a "stay-at-home Mom" while raising her children. She returned to the workplace in 1969 to manage the Guyan factory Outlet Shoe Store on Main St., Glenville for ten years before retiring.
Even in retirement Ruby stayed busy with sewing, quilting, fabric painting, reading and Bible study. She was always interested in history and current events and wrote many letters expressing her views on various topics. She wrote poetry and Christian song lyrics some of which are copyrighted. She enjoyed the outdoors, working in her garden and flower beds and she was a successful deer hunter.
Ruby will be missed by her children and their families which include a daughter, June Pritt Carr and husband Howard; a son David Pritt and wife Beverly all of Sand Fork and youngest son Terry Pritt of Glenville. She also was blessed with 14 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandsons. She is also survived by a brother, Charles Warren Lamb and his wife Jeannie of Trenton FL, many nieces, nephews, cousins and her beloved church family at Glenville Christian Chapel.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ralph in 1972 and one son Allen Hale Pritt in 1994. She was also preceded by brothers Herbert Judson Lamb and William Hale Lamb
and half brother James Toral Lamb and half sisters Trilby Lamb Young and Anna Lamb Sholes.
