Denver Sturm, 84, of Spencer, West Virginia, died Sunday, August 15, 2010, in the Roane General Hospital, Spencer, after a sudden illness.
He was born May 28, 1926, in Arnoldsburg, a son of the late Earl C. and Ethel Stalnaker Sturm.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen Sturm, and a brother, Dennis Sturm.
Mr. Sturm was a retired 50-year employee of Willard C. Starcher, Spencer. He was a member of the Moriah Lodge No. 38, A.F. and A.M., Spencer, the Jackson Chapter No. 48, R.A.M., Ravenswood and the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Valley of Parkersburg. He had attended the Calhoun County High School and faithfully attended the Stoney Point New Hope Community Church, Arnoldsburg. Also, he was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Denver was a devoted family man who loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret A. Marshall Sturm, whom he married March 3, 1950; children, Patricia A. Walker (Ross), Denver H. Sturm (Patti), and Vickie L. Bowen (Garry) all of Spencer, Barbara J. Keen (Bob) of Leroy; a brother, Ernest Sturm of San Antonio, TX; nine grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 18 at 2:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Pastor Tom Fletcher officiating. Burial with military rites will be in the Eventide Cemetery, Spencer.
