Dora Jean Monroe Gick, 64, of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, died
Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak
Ridge.
She was born June 22, 1937, in Creston, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Alfred
J. and Opal Holzle Monroe.
Mrs. Gick worked for 25 years for the Methodist Medical Center where she
was an LPN on the "OB" floor. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
She enjoyed gardening, flowers and traveling. She was an avid Oak Ridge
sports fan, and she was the first woman to coach a team at the Oak Ridge
Boys Club. She was especially fond of spending time with her grandson.
She is survived by her husband of almost 46 years, William Herbert Gick. They
would have celebrated their 46th anniversary on April 13; two sons, John Gick
of Jefferson City, TN, and Jeff Gick and his wife, Sharyn of Knoxville, TN; one
daughter, Teresa Sampson and her husband, Bryan of Oak Ridge; her
step-mother, Roxie Monroe of Newark, WV; two half-sisters, Mary Jane
Holzle of Portsmouth, VA, and Rose Ruble of Princeton, WV; five
stepsisters, Patty Merrill of Newark, Rose Ruble of Princeton, Ruth
Kendall, and Alice Davis of Spencer, WV and Mary Nicholas of Brohard, WV;
one grandson, Hunter Dalton Sampson of Oak Ridge ; dear friends, Dr.
David Stanley and his wife, Marilyn, and Dave and Anne Dunthorn all of Oak
Ridge.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Harold
Monroe.
Funeral services will be held 8 p.m. Saturday at Weatherford Mortuary of Oak
Ridge. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, April 14, 2002 at Hill
Grove Cemetery of Sanoma, Wirt County, WV.

Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements.
