Ruth Dobbins, 85, of Cedarville, West Virginia, passed Thursday, August 12, 2010, at her home, following a brief illness.
Ruth was born in Braxton County, WV May 1, 1925, the daughter of the late Lora William Blake and Georgia Anna Pulliam Blake. She was the devoted wife of the late Kenneth Marple Dobbins, with whom she shared over 53 years of marriage.
Surviving are two daughters, Sharon Phares of Glenville WV and Karen Sponaugle of Cedarville; two sons, David Dobbins and Nelson Dobbins both of Glenville; one brother, William "Bill" Blake of Elverson, PA; seven grandchildren, Shana Phares of Morgantown WV, Tanya Isenhart and Scott Dobbins of Cedarville, Kris Snyder, Julian Phares, Jason Phares, and Denae Dobbins of Glenville; and twelve great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were three brothers, Raymond "Bud" Blake, Eugene "Gene" Blake, and Clarence Blake; three sisters, Eva Opal Dobbins, Matoka Miller, and Margaret Blake; one half bother, Ancil; and one half sister, Zura Bell.
Ruth was a homemaker and devoted mother and grandmother to her family. She worked for a brief period in an airplane parts factory in Baltimore during World War II and as a housekeeper for the Burnsville Hotel. Ruth was educated in Braxton County schools and enjoyed shopping and cooking for her family. Ruth was a member of the Lower Steer Run Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at the Lower Steer Run Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 17 with the Elder Mark Minney officiating and Ellyson Mortuary assisting. Visitation will be two hours prior to service. Internment will follow at the Cedarville Cemetery.
