| The Mid Ohio Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross is searching for individuals to fill slots beginning October 11 in Pleasants, Calhoun, Ritchie, Roane and Jackson Counties.
Benefits include living stipend of $11,800, $4,725 educational award, and health and child care benefits.
Successful candidates must be able to travel within the assigned county to direct service activities and into Wood County for a semi-weekly meeting. Successful candidates must be self-starters, have good communication skills, present a professional appearance, work well with all types of personalities, generate public speaking appearances, be reliable, responsible and goal oriented.
Chosen applicants will occupy an American Red Cross 'storefront' in the county in order to provide direct service to residents. Direct service will include training in safety classes such as CPR and First Aid, recruiting adult volunteers to become disaster action team members and shelter team members to respond to local disasters, and recruiting youth to form Junior Red Cross clubs, promoting disaster preparedness and community service projects.
