Virginia (Richards) Shaffer, 89, of Elyria Township, Ohio went home to the Lord SunÂday, August 1, 2010, at Keystone Pointe in LaGrange, following a brief illness.
She was born April 9, 1921 in Big Springs, West VirÂginia and moved to the Elyria area in 1957.
Virginia was a member of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church in Elyria. She loved spending time with family and enjoyed cooking and gardening.
Survivors include a daughÂter, Betty Gerlak (Ronald) of Goodyear, Arizona; three sons, Bob Barker (Phyllis) of Grafton Ohio, Eddie Barker (EmÂma) of Elyria and Richard Barker (Kathleen) of North Olmsted Ohio. Additional surviÂvors include numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren and great-great Âgrandchildren; two brothers, Arden Richards of CaliforÂnia, and Alvin RichÂards of Springfield Ohio.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Okey Barker and Charles Shaffer; parÂents, Colvin and Snow (Cunningham) RichÂards and a sister, Dorothy Greenlief.
Funeral services will be Thursday, August 5, 2010, 1 p.m., at Chestnut Ridge BapÂtist Church, 38550 Chestnut Ridge Rd., Elyria, where the family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of services. Pastor Darrell Myers will officiate. Burial will be private at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon Ohio.
