Twirling Unlimited International Championship Twirling Duet 1st runner-up winners in the open division, ages 15 years and over, are Taylor Freeland of Pinch, WV and Ashley Conley of Orma, Calhoun County.
This annual International Championship was held at Canton, Ohio July 9th through 11th, and open to anyone in the U.S. and other countries.
Taylor also won 1st runner-up in the intermediate title for girls ages 15 and up. This pageant was determined by placement in three events; baton twirling, fancy strutting, and gown modeling. Taylor also won 1st runner-up in the Miss Springtime modeling event, 1st runner-up in 2 and 3 baton twirling, and several other awards, including 2nd runner-up in the advanced 15 years and over "Best Appearing," modeling in baton outfit.
Ashley Conley won 1st place in Advanced Basic Marching, 1st runner-up in the Advanced Best Appearing modeling division ages 15 and over, and several other awards. Ashley did not compete for the title this year.
Fifteen year old Taylor will be a sophomore at Capital High School this year. Her parents are Bill and Misty Taylor of Pinch, WV.
Ashley is 19 and is planning on a nursing career. Her parents are Earl "Junior" and Carolyn Conley of Orma, Calhoun County.

Both girls are coached by Lorraine Bailey of Orma, who has continued putting West Virginia on the twirling map. She has been producing state, regional, national, and international champs for many years, and loves working with her students.
Lorraine judges National, International, and Jr. Olympics contests all over the US.
