Highway officials are saying that construction on the Corder Bridge at the Calhoun-Roane line on US 33-119 is expected to commence shortly.
Bilco Construction of South Charleston has been awarded the contract for $2,630,924. When the project was first announced in 2005, the cost of the bridge was given at $1,500,000.
The project has been delayed several years.
The existing metal truss bridge was built about 1930. It will continue to be used during construction.
The project is to be completed by June 30, 2011.
