Adrian F. Conrad age 87 of Sand Fork, West Virginia, departed this life at 9:44 p.m. Saturday, July 24, 2010 at the residence of his daughter, Donna following an extended illness.
He was born May 20, 1923 in Gilmer County a son of the late William G. and Minnie Mae King Conrad.
Adrian retired in 1985 as a Gilmer County school bus driver, an Army Vet of WW II, during his service to our country he was attached to the 3rd and 9th Army, wounded in Germany December 30, 1945 in the Rhineland Campaign as a member of Camp C 405 Infantry Regiment and was a Purple Heart recipient.
On March 20, 1943 he was married to Myrtle Ruth Stump Conrad who preceded him in death December 20, 1995.
Surviving are 2 children, Donna Spaur and husband Ron of Sand Fork and Paul F. Conrad and wife Jeanne of Walker WV; two sisters, Virginia Peggs of Baltimore MD and Pauline Miller of Winchester VA; five grandchildren, Timothy White, William F. Conrad, Charles L. Conrad, Kelly Freshour Reed and C.W. Freshour; and nine great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents Adrian was preceded in death by 2 infant children; 3 brothers and 4 sisters, Walter, Woodrow and Glen Conrad, Stella and Octavia Conrad, Arnetta Thompson and Genevieve McCord.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Sand Fork Baptist Church 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 29, 2010 with Pastor Bryan Groves officiating. Burial will follow in the Conrad Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Church from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to services on Thursday.
