There were 230 riders in the Creston ATV Poker Run. Larry Stuff from Sinking Springs came in first followed by Vera White and Doug Tanner. There were 250 at the Shriner's run the previous Saturday. One thing for sure there wasn't a problem with dust this time around. Some noted that the road up to Craig Ridge from Little Spring Creek was challenging. One fellow tried out the play hole at the head of Big Run and had to be extricated by family members. Later he took his chariot airborne and inflicted damage on a driveshaft.

The Creston Community would like to thank all those that came & rode, all those who fixed the food & worked in the kitchen, did the parking, worked the stations, set up the route, took down the signs, did the signups, etc as well as all those merchants & individuals who donated items for the door prizes. Several of the ladies on the ride said that Mr. Shaw's peanut butter fudge was "the best".

The local area continues to get rain along with hot humid weather.

Bradley Stutler was visiting Mr. & Mrs. R. W. Arthur and other area relatives & friends.

Casper Shuman reported they figured out who took down the signs for the Shrine poker run. Additional research found that the culprit was out and about at 4 A. M.

Ted Grim was calling on Charles Russell. He was also visiting other area relatives & friends.

Bessie & Suellen Arthur were calling on Euell Russell at Miletree as was his brother Charles. Cap't & Mrs. Spock, Ferrell Griffin & son were among those visiting with Verda Bush at the facility. She is scheduled for a consultation with her physician.

The katydids have been announcing for some time now it is "six weeks until frost".

The recent spate of untimely deaths in and around Elizabeth has impacted the Creston area as there are ties to Creston families in each instance.

The Big Boss announced that one of the Goodwin boys had been named to be the temporary U. S. Senator until the present governor can get himself ensconced safely for life where the big money is handled. The new senator had been looking after the bosses' legal affairs and another relative had been looking after the state university to make sure no one got into trouble for giving out bogus degrees to the first daughter(s). Federal judge Joe Bob made sure that the Rockefeller and Mellin families didn't have to pay the peasants in the recent class action suits against the family oil & gas companies and another family member is the U S Attorney is southern W. Va. The little wife runs Johnny D. IV's senatorial office so, all in all, one can say that the ruling oligarchy will continue "to look after the poor & down trodden" as they have ever since 1928. The new senator formerly was a law clerk for Judge Bob King who was known locally as Kay Wriston's mouth piece.

Mike Cunningham, his wife and children were killed in a car wreck on old U. S. 21. He was the son of Jimmy Cunningham and Leveda Wright and the grandson of the late Dale Cunningham.

Theresa Lynn Marks Greathouse, age 44, died in Elizabeth. The daughter of Marvin & Beverly Marks she will be buried at Ground Hog.

Those who have been following the debate over Obamacare were not really surprised when the federales, in defending the suit on constitutional grounds, said, "Well, those mandates requiring people to get insurance were perfectly legal since the fines & penalties would just be taxes."

Barbara Bush is presently undergoing chemotherapy. She reported that she wasn't sick.

W. Harrison Schenerlein IV attended his cousin Vincenzo Guice's birthday party.

Some while back there was a furor after a local farmer eliminated a dog that was worrying the equine residents of the farm and was killing the chickens. The dog owner said it was a valuable hound and demanded much lucre. However, when the matter came "to trial" it was determined that the $40 pooch had been purchased earlier in the day & then turned loose without complying with the most minimal of precautions, etc.

The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude oil rose to $70.75/bbl.
