Bessie I. Basnett, 93, of Annamoriah, West Virginia, passed away July 8, 2010 at Minnie Hamilton Health System, Grantsville, WV.
She was born at Hur, Calhoun County WV, a daughter of the late Alex and Selina Kerby Carpenter. She was a member of the Brooksville Missionary Baptist Church.
Surviving are four sons, William (Marge) Basnett of Surprise AZ, Jerry (Bessie) Basnett of Grantsville, Fred Jr. (Barbara) Basnett of Ravenswood WV, and Roger Basnett of Annamoriah; two daughters, Gloria Stevens, and Sue (Jim) Arthur of Grantsville; 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; one brother, Gene (Helen) Carpenter of Parkersburg WV; one sister, Jenny (Al) Killeen of Lancaster OH; and several nieces and nephews; four step great grandchildren and five step great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred F. Basnett in 1998.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, July 11 at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Rev. C.W. McDonald will officiate. Interment will be in the Big Bend Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday.
