Homer Lee Rogers Jr., 66, of Cutler, Ohio, formerly of Gilmer County, a victim of a murder, died June 19, 2010.

He was born in Gilmer County, W.Va., on Jan. 7, 1944, and was the son of the late Homer Lee Rogers and the late Roy B. and Vera Moyers Adams. He was an Army veteran, retired from Furmanite Corporation as a field machinist. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, working in garden and loved spending time with his grandchildren and watching them play football and baseball.

Survivors include his two daughters, Cynthia Smith, Kimberley Schafer and husband, Michael, his son, Homer Lee Rogers III and wife, Angela, all of Cutler, Ohio. Ten grandchildren, Tana Shea, Sasha Rogers, Cody Smith, Quentin Smith, Lance Schafer, Trace Schafer, Tyler Schafer, Dylan Schafer, Samantha Rogers and Emma Rogers, all of Cutler. His great-grandchildren, Cameron Carpenter, Chaz Carpenter and Shealynn Smith, all of Cutler; and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are two brothers, Shannon and wife, Debby Adams, of Glenville, W.Va., Mike and wife, Anna Belle Adams, of Sand Fork, W.Va. An uncle and two aunts also survive him in Glenville, W.Va.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Deborah Jean Rogers; a brother, Bernard (PeeWee) Lee Adams; and two sisters, Brenda Adams and Colleen Reaser.

Services will be on Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre, with the Rev. Darin Crites officiating. Burial will be in the Centenary Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5 to 9 p.m. and up until services on Thursday. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Parkersburg Post #15 of the American Legion.
