Cyclists hit Grantsville after Rt. 14/5 ride from Parkersburg

Twenty cyclists pedaled into Grantsville from Parkersburg Saturday in the seventh annual "Outspoken for 4-H" bike ride.

It was the hottest day of the year.

The four-day fund-raising bicycle ride across the state covered 250 miles, starting in Huntington and ended Sunday at the state 4-H camp at Jackson's Mill.

Extension agent Curt Garrison welcomes riders

WVU Extension agents joined with 4-H volunteer leaders and members to help the riders along the way by organizing pit stops and assisting with food and lodging.

The riders were accompanied by a crew of bike technicians, medical personnel and other volunteers.

Jim and Sheila Garretson of Grantsville hosted the riders at their home, welcomed to the county by extension agent Curt Garrison.
