Five Calhoun Highways employees entered the 2010 WVDOT/DOH, Operator's Safety Awareness Roadeo, held May 7 at the equipment division in Buckhannon. Participating were, John Shaffer, Donald Wilson, Jim Harris, Todd Ulderich and Rick Hopkins.
John Shaffer placed 1st and Donald Wilson placed 2nd in tandem axle truck competition. They will go to Mississippi in the fall to compete in the National Roadeo.
Jim Harris was in the single-axle competition and placed 1st. He will also compete in Mississippi.
Rick Hopkins placed 4th in backhoe, and Todd Ulderich placed 4th in lowboy competition.
Only 1st and 2nd in each category will compete in Mississippi.
"It was a fun-filled day and a good chance for everybody to get together. Everybody who works here at Calhoun County are very proud of all our guys for the great job," said County Highway Administrator, Charles R. Holmes.
