FLASH FLOOD WATCH FOR REGION

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect through Wednesday morning, according to NWS.

The Flash Flood Watch to include portions of northeast Kentucky, southeast Ohio and West Virginia.

Braxton, Roane, Calhoun, Gilmer, Ritchie and Wirt are among the regional counties.

A low pressure system will slowly move across the region as a frontal boundary remains over the area. With the ground already saturated, rainfall amounts of an inch or less in 3 hours could cause flooding.

The best chance for flooding problems will be this afternoon and evening as thunderstorms develop across the area.

Precautionary/preparedness actions:

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.
