Charles Haverty stopped by with his grandchildren, Virginia and Jack the youngest. I thought Jack was Thomas his older brother. Jack said, "I'm 5 years old." Thomas will be playing the fiddle at the Vandalia Gathering in Charleston this summer.
I visited with Buddy Watkins last Saturday. He's looking good, has lost
weight and works in his garden and a well kept yard. He has nice flowers blooming and his strawberries are producing. Also he has a new front porch and bird houses all around. Buddy and I rode from Nebo over Hardman Church Hill to the mouth of Walker gathering poke and milkweed, there is also an abundance of blackberry and raspberry bloom. My mother loved milkweed greens, as do I.
Still going through all the things that have been here since childhood and run upon some of my Minnora Elementary School reports cards. Grade 2, Nora Shaffer, Sept. 2, 1958; grade 3, Ruth Starcher (?) Aug. 31, 1959; grade 4, Norma Bailey, Aug. 29, 1960; grade 5, Thelma Conley, Aug. 28, l961 (Daddy bought a new Chevy Impala that year); grade 6, Opal K. Weekley, Aug. 27, l962.
I've had my hummingbird feeder out since April and I still don't have a
lot. They seem to be rather small.
May 27th is the full Flower Moon. some Algonquin tribes knew this as the Corn Planting Moon or the Milk Moon.
My yard sale didn't happen as it rained pretty good in the morning.
Monday the 17th was my 59th birthday and that's about all I have to say about that!
My garden is doing will and I'm thankful for the help of my friends.
Have a wonderful week!
