One of the goals of "Lights On!" is to give people different experiences. Students of Arnoldsburg's "Lights On!" French class can definitely say they had a different experience! The final French class (for the fourth "round" of classes) ended Monday with a celebration banquet for participants. While students eagerly looked forward to the first course of French Bread Pizza, and the second course of chocolate covered strawberries and other fresh fruit, their looks of glee turned to trepidation and uncertainty when the final course was presented. I'm sure you can guess--what's synonymous with French foods? Escargot of course!

A fancy name, like escargot, only works for so long, and while everyone was brave talking about escargot, the truth of the matter is: a snail is a snail. My first thought was of a credit card commercial seen on television: Something along the lines "camera $200, fancy restaurant $150, look on students faces about to eat snails, priceless!"

We thank our "French" chefs Sarah Hotchkiss and Norma Myers for the feast.
