The Calhoun Commission appointed a new prosecutor Friday, replacing Shelly DeMarino, who has resigned from the position.
The commissioners appointed Ravenswood resident Rocky D. Holmes, who is well-acquainted with the Calhoun community, serving as a public defender for five years.
Holmes said he is looking forward to modifying his career path and serving as Calhoun prosecutor. "I expect to work hard for the people of the county," he said.
Holmes, a graduate of the WVU College of Law, also has degrees in political science, sociology and anthropology.
He has been employed by the Public Defender Corporation since 2005, serving the Fifth Judicial Circuit, and was a Democrat candidate in the 4th Senatorial District in 2008.
Holmes will assume his duties on May 1. |
