State Director Bobby Lewis announces that Rural Development has approved an Economic Impact Initiative Grant of $21,750 for the Gassaway Volunteer Fire Department.
Rural Development funds will be used to purchase 15 sets of new turnout gear.
"This will replace 20 year old gear now being worn by the fire fighters," stated Lewis.
"The shelf life of gear is normally ten years," he said.
