YOUTH SHOT IN HEAD - A fourteen-year-old Charleston male was shot in the head and later died in a hospital Monday evening, says the Charleston Police Department.
The shooting happened near the Glenwood Elementary School.
When police arrived, they found the boy on the street.
They say an altercation erupted in the street between a group of individuals. One of them pulled out a gun and fired shots.
Police say at least two shots were fired. The boy was not involved in the altercation, and was an innocent bystander.
Police are searching for a suspect, saying there was apparently a number of people in the area that could have witnessed what happened. They say only a few are coming forward.
The Grant Street area has been the back drop for several shootings.
MURDER IN HARRISON COUNTY - A murder investigation is underway in in Sardis, Harrison County.
Charles Walters, 37, of West Union has been arrested for the murder of Kenneth Gillis, 62.
Walters is accused of stabbing Gillis several times inside Gillis' home late Sunday.
According to the criminal complaint, Walters told police he went to Gillis' home with the intent to kill him, and confessed to the stabbing.
He has been charged with first degree murder.
DOMESTIC INCIDENT LEADS TO ARREST - A domestic violence situation erupted in Benwood, Ohio County last Thursday, leading to knife wounds and a hostage situation.
Shawn Edward McCamick, 35, of Benwood, is being held in the Northern Regional Jail on felony charges of malicious wounding and aggravated kidnapping.
Wheeling newspapers say the circumstances that led to McCamick's arrest began at about 11 a.m. at Wheeling Hospital.
A Wheeling Hospital spokesperson said a car pulled up to the hospital and Heather McCamick, the wife of Shawn McCamick, jumped from the car. She went to the hospital's emergency room where she was treated for cuts on her hands and released.
Benwood Police Chief Frank Longwell said Shawn McCamick injured his wife in a struggle and then returned to the family's Benwood home with the couple's 13-month-old son.
Longwell said Shawn McCamick threatened to kill the child before he barricaded himself and the toddler in a bedroom.
Police forced entry into the residence and the child was not injured.
