MCCOY RECEIVES HIGH AGRICULTURAL AWARD

Calhoun High School student, Cody McCoy, was recently presented the schools highest agricultural honor, the DEKALB Agricultural Accomplishment Award, sponsored by Monsanto Company.

McCoy, the son of Rhonda and Danny McCoy received the award for excellence in academics, leadership and agricultural work experience. McCoy's significant experiences and accomplishments have included membership in the agricultural mechanics team, the livestock team, attended the national FFA convention, and is the current Calhoun County FFA president.

Donald Poage is McCoy's agricultural education instructor at Calhoun High School.

This year the DEKALB Agricultural Accomplishment Award celebrates its 63rd anniversary. Over these 63 years more than 164,000 high school seniors from across the country have received the award, which has become a symbol for excellence and the schools highest agricultural honor. In 2009, nearly 2,000 students from high schools in 49 of the 50 states were recognized with the award.

As the winner of the 2010 award Cody McCoy's name will be recorded on a permanent plaque displayed at Calhoun High School.
