10 AM Monday - 20-year-old Brian Wagoner of Carroll Road, Big Bend is listed
in "critical condition" at Charleston Area Medical Center's Intensive Care
Unit today, according to the hospital's public information department.
A family spokesperson said young Wagoner was suffering from trauma to the
head, two fractures in one leg, a punctured lung, an injured kidney, a
crushed nose and other injuries. Family members were at the hospital
throughout the night.
Wagoner's father, Rodney was killed yesterday when a pickup truck driven
by Melvin Shaffer, 18, of Normantown apparently went left-of-center and
crashed head-on with the Wagoner vehicle near Big Bend. Brian was driving
the Wagoner truck.
Shaffer is listed in "fair condition" by Charleston Area Medical Center.
The Wagoner family of Yellow Creek have been mainstays in the Spruce
Hollow Community Church.
Brian Wagoner and Melvin Shaffer were taken to CAMC by HealthNet
chopper, following the Sunday afternoon accident.
Wagoner's body was taken to Stump Funeral Home in Grantsville, and was
removed to the State Medical Examiner's Office.
