BOMB THREAT AT ROANE COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL - Students Evacuated From Building

(03/22/2002)
A bomb threat was called into Roane County High School about 11 a.m. Friday and the students were evacuated from the building. They were sent to the Roane County Raiders football field and on buses parked near the field.

Police, the Spencer-Roane Volunteer Fire Department and other emergency personnel responded to the scene and commenced a sweep of the building.

School administrator Steve Goffreda told WVRC's Toby Wagoner the situation is under control and the students are not in harms way. He complimented the students for their calm behavior during the evacuation.

Goffreda said the students will be returned to the building after authorities give clearance.

In recent years, students who have made bomb threats have frequently been caught, although it is not known yet who made this call.
