A Reader's Digest report ranking the best, worst, and deadliest roads in America shows the Mountain State not doing well.
The report says WV has the 8th worst roads in the nation and the 4th deadliest.
The Division of Highways says it is responsible for 36,000 miles and 7,000 bridges, the largest percentage of any other state.
Money is a problem.
"Revenue projections are projected to remain stagnate at best, if not decline in future years," said Karen Zamow, WV Division of Highways.
West Virginia ranks among the top ten in the deadliest DUI statistic.
The state is 30 years behind the scheduled paving schedule.
The rankings are based on data from the Federal Highway Administration factoring conditions of roads and bridges, safety and congestion.
