Lucille "Mei Mei" Collins age 90, of Kanawha St. Glenville West Virginia, departed this life at 7:06 a.m., Monday March 9, 2010, in the United Hospital Center following an short illness.
She was born June 2, 1919 in Gilmer County, daughter of the late Robert and Estella Gaston Carpenter.
Lucille was a homemaker, and at the time of her death was one of the oldest living members of the First Baptist Church of Glenville.
She was united in marriage June 8, 1940 to Eugene "Ace" Collins who preceded her in death on September 7, 1989.
Surviving are one son, Jim E. Collins II and wife Janice of Glenville; 1 daughter, Saunnie Hoard of Glenville; 4 grandchildren, Nannette Nutter and husband Michael of East Sparta Ohio, Gina Taylor and husband Brian of Glenville; David Hoard of Glenville; and Jaime Ann Collins also of Glenville; 6 great grandchildren also survive: Joey and Matthew Nutter, Emma Taylor, Airiana Hoard, and Evan and Blake Caudill.
Lucille was the last of her immediate family having been preceded by her parents, husband, a special young lady, who Lucille considered a daughter, Donita Greathouse.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday March 13, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of Glenville with Rev. Phil Shields officiating. Burial will follow in the Stalnaker Cemetery Glenville.
Calling hours will be 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc. Glenville, WV.
