The construction of a new Little Kanawha Transit Authority facility at Mt. Zion will commence in 2011, according to manager Darlene Harris.

The LKTA is getting a $3,364,385 boost from the federal government's stimulus package for improvements.

West Virginia's Division of Public Transit is in charge of the project, including the letting of bids.

Harris says the money will be used to construct an operational complex, including a maintenance garage, office and training rooms.

The authority serves Calhoun, Roane and Jackson County, and currently operates an office at Arnoldsburg.

The LKTA purchased 4.5 acres of land at Mt. Zion.
