Heather's mother-in-law Elizabeth Anne and her husband Tim Ruckman were having dinner at Applebee's in Summersville February 19th, an elderly woman was eating steak, someone yelled, "She's choking, she's choking!" Anne jumped up without hesitation, gave her two 'abdominal thrusts' and the piece of steak flew out of her mouth and nearly missed her husband Tim. Their dinner was compliments of Applebee's. It was a good thing that Anne quickly came to the ladies aid. Everyone was relieved and thankful. Heather was very proud of Anne.

Blaine King and I played dominoes Saturday morning, he won. On his way here from Crooked Run that morning traveling on Left Hand he never met a car. He was pushing the snow along as he drove. All these secondary roads here were in bad shape.

We were going to Spencer for supplies but decided to wait until Monday for that trip. We were able to attended the 90th birthday celebration for Paul Fleming held at the Arnoldsburg Community Center. A crowd of more than fifty people attended. Paul and his wife Glenna sat at the fireplace and greeted everyone. The couple are doing well and looked great. Helen Morris was there taking pictures of the event. She was accompanied by her granddaughter. Also Bob Weaver was there. It was nice for me to see both of them as I write for their publications. Richard and Emma Lou Chenowith came down from Ohio for the event. Emma Lou is Glenna's sister.

I talked to Ivy Sampson Cottrell on the phone Sunday morning. It's been a long time since I've visited with her. She and her husband are fairing well this winter. Staying warm and have plenty of food. She told me they haven't left the house since the 4th of this month. She had open heart surgery some time ago and is getting along well now. She will be 80 years old in September. We talked about my great uncles, Harley and Carl Sampson. we liked those guys.

Richard Chenowith told me a story of his uncle Oscar Chenowith. Oscar had the store on Nicut a long time ago. Nelson Bennett came into the store and said he wanted to borrow $5. Oscar put his hand to his ear and said, "Heh." Nelson said, "Loan me $10 dollars." Oscar replied, "I heard you the first time." I don't think any money was loaned that day. It was a good old story.

My grandfather, Ferrell Metz and Richard's father were buddies in their day. Grandpa drove a team of oxen for Denver.

My granddaughter, Ruby turned 4 February 25th. Heather and Ben took Ruby, Lea, and their friend Connor to Chuck E. Cheese's in Charleston, Sunday.

Everyone have a wonderful week!
