| John Wesley Cottrell Sr., 79 of Elizabeth, West Virginia, passed away at his residence after a short illness.
John was born November 1, 1930 the son of the late Perry and Laura (Rogers) Cottrell.
He worked for several years for WesVaco and Curry Lumber Company and later Cottrell Lumber Company. He enjoyed playing Bluegrass and Gospel Music and could play a variety of different instruments.
He is survived by his 2 sons, Bradley (Sharon) Cottrell of Petroleum WV and Stewart Hal (Tricia) Cottrell of Bellevue NE; 1 daughter, Alice (CR) Kent of Sandyville WV; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; special friend Edna Ward and a special nephew Russ Cottrell.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Grita Cottrell; one son John Cottrell Jr.,
1 granddaughter Teresa Cottrell; one sister and seven brothers.
No services will be held at this time. In keeping with John's wishes he will be cremated. The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.
