Lillian G. Schoolcraft, 89, of Columbiana, Ohio, formerly of Parkersburg, West Virginia, passed away at 2:50 a.m. February 23, 2010 at her home following an extended illness.
Lillian was born February 17, 1921, the daughter of the late Marshall and Henrietta (Null) Valentine.
Mrs. Schoolcraft was a graduate of Parkersburg High School in West Virginia in 1939 and moved to Columbiana over 30 years ago. She had been a practical nurse and also a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Parkersburg, where she founded the church daycare in 1972. She was a past president of the church missionary society and board member for several years. When Lillian moved to Columbiana she transferred her membership in her church in Parkersburg to Columbiana Church of the Nazarene.
In addition to her parents Lillian was preceded in death September 19, 1971 by her husband, Harvey E. Schoolcraft whom she married November 12, 1941; son David Schoolcraft; and seven brothers, Daniel, Cecil, Paul, Clifford, Edward, Curtis, and Sam Valentine
Mrs. Schoolcraft is survived by three daughters, Donna (Sam) Bell of Columbiana, Judy (Jim) Matheny of Elizabeth, West Virginia, Bonnie (William) Grimm of Leetonia, Ohio; 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law Elizabeth Schoolcraft of Arizona; and one sister-in-law Betty Valentine of Elizabeth; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, February 26 at the Matheny Whited funeral home in Elizabeth WV with Rev. Ray Whiteman officiating.
Friends may call 2 hours prior to the service Friday. Interment will be at Beulah Cemetery of Elizabeth.
