| Jay Allan Nichols, 75, of Grantsville, West Virginia, passed away February 21, 2010 at Minnie Hamilton Health System, Grantsville.
He was born in Kanawha County, a son of the late John R. and Ann Nichols. He was a retired machinist with Ravenswood Aluminum Co. for over 50 years and was a timberman. Mr. Nichols faithfully attended the Five Forks Community Church where he will be sadly missed.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Mary Whipkey Nichols; 3 sons, Steven J. Nichols of Asheville NC, David Bruce Nichols of Sonoma CA, and Jesse Lee Nichols of Newport OH; 1 daughter, Loretta Linn Hines of Wilmington NC; 3 sisters, Mary Fields of Clendenin WV, Maxine Green and Melba Sheets both of Charleston WV; 4 grandsons, 1 granddaughter; 1 step granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sara Hines; a sister, Martha Laughry; and 6 brothers, Hoy, James, Easley, Ray, Charles and Richard.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, February 25 at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Rev. Alfred Hickman will officiate. Interment will be in the Kight Cemetery near Grantsville.
Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the services Thursday. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, Hospice Care of Burnsville or to Friends of Minnie Hamilton Health System in Grantsville. |
