Johnnie Mae Keith, 88, of West Columbia, South Carolina, formerly of Spencer, West Virginia, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2010 in Still Hopes Episcopal Home in West Columbia.
She was the only daughter of the late Arnold and Wilma Bell Girard.
She attended Mary Washington College and later worked in the law offices of her grandfather, S. Paris Bell of Spencer. She was the receptionist at Traders Bank for nearly 19 years. Johnnie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She had been an active member of the First Baptist Church of Spencer where she had served as a deaconess, choir member, Sunday school teacher, and Bible school teacher. She was a volunteer for Helping Hand of Spencer and was involved with many other civic organizations throughout her lifetime.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Quellen McGuire Keith.
She is survived by sons, Jon Girard Keith and Thomas Christopher Keith, both of Columbia, SC; and four grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Spencer with the Rev. Michael F. "Mike" King officiating. Burial will be in the Eventide Cemetery, Spencer.
Friends may call at the church from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.
