Calhoun traveled to Wirt County to take on the White Tigers in a boys middle school basketball game.
In the seventh grade game Calhoun was able to hang on for a hard fought 28 to 25 win.
Tyler Gerwig and Sam Brady led the team in scoring with 10 and 8 points respectively. Luke Sheldon played one of his best games scoring 4 points and providing some much needed defense.
Others scoring for the Red Devils were Lucas Wilson with 2 points, Tyler Tanner 2 points and Kirkland Allen 2 points. Playing but did not scoring was Tyler Sims.
In the eighth grade game Calhoun came out and played hard, playing even with the Tigers during the first quarter.
In the second period Calhoun came out shooting as Kameron Carder hit a three pointer and Logan Moore a 2 to give the Red Devils the lead 12 to 10.
Then Wirt's Kalob Bell took over scoring 10 of his 16 points in the second period to help Wirt retake a 15 point lead going into the half.
In the second half the two teams played even as Wirt was able to win going away 47 to 30.
Scoring for Calhoun were, Mason Sheldon 10 points, Logan Moore 9 points, Kameron Carder 6 points, Tyler Gerwig 3 points, and Lucas Wilson 2 points. Playing but not scoring were, Tyler Sims, Kirkland Allen, Tyler Tanner and William Baker.
