Virginia Lee "Tootie" Wright Mace Sims 80, of Elizabeth, West Virginia, departed this life on Tuesday January 26, 2010.
She was born September 20, 1929 the daughter of the Late Clinton and Maple Wright.
Tootie was a 1947 graduate of Wirt County High School.
She was married to Clair Mace for 21 years, they resided in Elizabeth with their 2 sons Donald and Michael Mace, all of whom preceded her in death. Clair and Tootie owned and operated Mace Funeral Home of Elizabeth until his death in 1972.
In 1979 Tootie married Eugene "Boo" Sims they were married for 21 years and were co-owners of Sims and George store of Elizabeth for many years. Boo also preceded her in death.
She was a member of the Eastern Stars #113 of Elizabeth, the Red Hat Society of Elizabeth, and was an avid supporter of the Wirt County Athletic Association. She had not missed a WV State basketball tournament in Charleston in 30 years. She regularly attended and enjoyed the music and fellowship of the Bluegrass Gospel Music Association in Palestine, WV.
She is survived by her 3 sisters-in-law, Barcelena Mace Townsend and Pauline (Carl) George all of Elizabeth, and Margarite Mace of Point Pleasant WV; cousin Mary Virginia Martin of Alexandria LA; and many other cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends all of whom will miss her dearly.
In addition to her parents, husbands and sons she was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Helen Lewis and Margery Rassell.
Despite the many heartaches she suffered,
she was joyful, loved and lived life to the fullest.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday January 29 at Matheny Whited Funeral Home of Elizabeth with Rev. Lee Williams officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with an Eastern Star service at 7 p.m. Interment will be at K of P Cemetery of Elizabeth.
