Paul Lewis Conrad, 70, of Vermilion, Ohio, passed away in the Kingston of Vermilion Nursing Home Friday, January 22, 2010.
Born June 21, 1939 in Weston, WV, he was a son of the late Elder Roy and Tacie Conrad.
At the age of 16 Paul was baptized by Fred Dobbins at the Crooked Fork Baptist Church. He remained a Baptist throughout his life. He graduated from Normantown High School, class of 1959. Mr. Conrad lived with his parents at Perkins, WV, for several years before moving to Ohio. He dealt courageously with a severe seizure disorder for all of his adult life. He has resided at the Kingston of Vermilion Nursing Facility for 23 years. In this past year he was diagnosed with the cancer that caused his death.
Paul enjoyed the outdoors and liked caring for animals. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians Baseball Team. He enjoyed bluegrass music, his favorite band was "The West Virginia Cut-ups."
Paul is survived by 2 brothers, Carl Conrad of Elyria Ohio and Jesse Conrad of Grafton Ohio; 2 sisters, Pauline Conger and Jaki (Emeline) Pearce of Elyria Ohio He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents Paul was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Lee and Glenn Conrad; and 1 sister, Josephine (Jo) Mohr.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 26, in the Oak Grove Cemetery Normantown WV. Paul's brothers, Carl and Jesse Conrad will be officiating.
Calling hours are from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc. Glenville WV.
