A former Wirt County youth died in a Huntington hospital Friday after being struck by a car in Ashland, Kentucky.
Seven-year-old Raymond Jones was struck by the vehicle about 7 a.m. Thursday at a bus stop.
Jones was attempting to cross both lanes of a street, according to Ashland police.
He was first taken to an Ashland hospital and then airlifted to Cabell-Huntington Hospital, where authorities said he died from head trauma.
A former student of Wirt County schools, he was attending Hatcher Elementary in Ashland.
He is survived by his parents, mother and stepfather, Donna Marie Krantz Forquer and Michael McCoy of Ashland and father and stepmother, Keith "Red" Jones and Glenna Conley of Elizabeth.
Brothers, Thomas J. Forquer and Daniel "Jerrill" Forquer, both of Ashland, Jessie J. Forquer of Stoney Point, N.C.; stepbrother, Joshuwa Dean McCoy of Ashland; and stepsister, Shelly Louise McCoy of Ashland.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Jan. 26, 2010, at Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland by Rev. Bill McCoy and Rev. Sean Mayenschein. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home chapel.
Raymond was an organ donor. His donations have helped save seven lives.
