The local area continues to "enjoy" Al Gore's 'global warming' with more cold and snow. It has been learned that FOIAs have been filed against NASA and NOAH two federal agencies that have been promoting the global warming hoax. Sen Cardin from Maryland indicated the global warming tax would generate $100 to $300 billion/year in taxes and will require Soviet style preplanning.

Mr. & Mrs. Bill McFee, Mr. & Mrs. Gary Jones & Mr. & Mrs. Alvin Engelke attended the Farm Bureau/Forestry Association reception at Butcher Bend Four H camp. In spite of the inclemency there was a substantial crowd. Sen. Donna Boley, Delegate Bill Anderson, Wood County Commissioner Rick Modesitt and Wood Assessor Rich Shaffer were the only elected officials that were able to attend. Also present were candidates Stark, Warner & McKinley, all of whom are running for first district congressman. Not so long back the incumenbent voted to support Acorn the group that was caught promoting brothels for underaged South American girls at taxpayer expense.

Charles Russell was consulting Dr. Hundi at Minnie Hamilton Health Care center & he was attending to business in Brooksville.

Evelyn Wells, age 87, of Zackville passed away after a bout with liver cancer & complications. A few years ago she told the Creston correspondent about her first experience in Creston. About 70 years ago she was hired to do some sort of special school census and she was to do Creson. Someone drove her in a car from Elizabeth after first crossing the Elizabeth ferry and then 13 miles up the gravel road that is now hardtopped route 5. She was dropped off on the dePue side of the ferry and she started with the houses on that side. When she came near the first house she heard loud voices using "fowl" language. With great trepidation she knocked on the door. The occupants which included a member of a prominent local family who owned the property, invited her in asking if she wished to join them in consuming malted beverages, partying, etc. At that point her trepidation changed to terror. She politely thanked them for their hospitality and fled to the next house. After the first encounter everyone was nice and some apologised for the reception she received at Jocko's home.

From comments that have been made concerning dental records, etc. is seems to be a possiblility that the bones found at the head of Lost Run (off Ground Hog) may belong to Christian Dawn Starcher Seabolt who vanished from Spencer. She was linked to Tattoo Vince who is now doing a few years for the murder of a Roane native. Tattoo Vince was linked to some folks who were living in a now abandonded trailer on the Petty Place along W. Va. 5. Two gentlemen from Detroit and an "exotic dancer" from Chesapeake Ohio were apprended in Elizabeth with "some bad stuff". Both of the Detroit gentlemen posted large bonds and, apparently, never returned to the area. At that time the "exotic dancer" was not charged with the explanation being that "she was so dumb she wouldn't know the difference".

Arley Parker's mail truck broke down on the dePue straight the other morning. The initial report indicated that the lug nuts were loose.

It was reported that a big oil and gas outfit that does a lot of self promotion showed up at some folks driveway with dozers and other earthmoving equipment even though the owners hadn't been notified of a permit. Persuasion was used and the 'dozers went away and landmen came saying "We need to buy 25 acres and we are giving you $15,000." That didn't happen either. The Marcellus drilling recently made nation news on Tee Vee with a report that royalties are now 20% with lease bonuses of $5,500/acre. One landman called up a local fellow wanting to set up a meeting to explain why $15/acre bonus and 12 1/2% net would be a good deal for some Marcellus acreage where Chesapeake was paid $5.666.66/acre by the Norweigen government. Recently Chesapeake announced that they had worked out a deal with a French outfit on developing the Barnett shale in Texas.

The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude oil fell to $75.75/bbl.
