The Associated Press is reporting they have calculated Massey CEO Don Blankenship's compensation at $19.7 million in 2008.
The AP says Blankenship's salary was tops among his peers.
Reports indicate Massey Energy is upping Blankenship's potential pay.
A regulatory filing outlining the contract Blankenship signed recently shows Massey has increased the size of cash and stock bonuses and extended the deal to two years, says the AP.
He had been working on one-year deals.
Blankenship's actual salary stays at just under $1 million a year.
Blankenship will be debating Robert Kennedy, Jr. on January 21, an event that has bee sold out in Charleston. It will be televised.
