The Mt. Zion PSD will meet tonight at 6 p.m. in Arnoldsburg, to work on layers of challenges facing the beleaguered water district.

"We are asking for the public's patience to overcome these problems," said PSD board member Shirley Mace.

"We're working hard on overcoming the problems," Mace said.

The PSD is facing over $60,000 in unpaid bills so far, with their bank account showing a balance of about $12,000.

"We could owe even more money," Mace said, after the board has poured through documents, bills and bank accounts.

A report at a recent special meeting said the sewage account was overdrawn by $1,000.

Since billing problems have surfaced, the PSD has waived late fees from November-December 2009 until January 15, 2010.

"We've got the bills out, and the customers have been very helpful," Mace said.

"We're still in the process of obtaining the records," from former secretary-treasurer Wilma Mace, indicating the 2007 minutes have not been found.

The PSD is facing another legal challenge from Calhoun contractor Ron Lane, Inc., claiming bid interference over the pipe contract of the $5.2 million dollar water extension.

The PSD has retained the services of attorney Robert Rodeker regarding that action.

The West Virginia Public Service Commission has extended the deadlines for records to be delivered to their agency, acknowledging current efforts of the PSD board.

The state agency is conducting a broad-sweep investigation of the Mt. Zion PSD at the request of the Calhoun Commission, also supported by members of the PSD board.
