Thelma M. Cook, 90, of Gandeeville, West Virginia, died Friday, December 11, 2009, in the CAMC - Memorial Hospital, Charleston.
She was born October 2, 1919, at Boyd, Roane County, a daughter of the late Okey and Myrtle Hill Harper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harley Clyde Cook in 1973; three brothers, Doy, Foy and Coy Harper; four sisters, Addie Cottrell, Rosalee Harper, Wanda Hersman and Freda Barnette.
Mrs. Cook was a homemaker, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a former cook at the Two Runs Grade School. She was a member of the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, Walton and had attended the Newton United Methodist Church, Newton.
Survivors include four daughters, Ilene Lowe and Susan Davis both of Spencer, Connie Hickel of Point Pleasant, and Joann Cook of Gandeeville; two sons, Jack Cook of Akron, OH and Gene Cook of Spencer; three sisters, Ruth Walker of Spencer, Ulva Paxton of Walton and Delores Evans of Harmony; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Charles Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Hebron Cemetery, Spencer.
Friends may call Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
