Clay County youth work on Christmas cards
Submitted by Julie Dye
Youth Advantage - Workforce WV
Members of Youth Advantage created and sent holiday cards to US soldiers currently serving in Iraq.
Original artwork for the holiday cards was created by youth participants, Kim Riesinger, Bryanna Browning, Taylor Campbell and Kyleigh Lattea.
Many of the 176 participants of Youth Advantage gathered in their various counties to sign the cards, thanking the soldiers for their service and wishing them happy holidays. The cards were sent to an army unit from West Virginia and to friends and family of Youth Advantage members who are serving overseas. The unit address was located through AnySoldier.com, an organization which helps connect supporters to active service members.
Rachael Henderson, Amy Childers, Caroline Moore, Amber Ferrebee, Destiny Payne, Steve Schafstall, Crystal Taylor, Mariah Marling, Johnathan Poulin, Samantha Poulin, William Ohse, Jeff Hoskins, Josh Summers, Alexander McCumbers, Brittany Harris and Brittany Robinson from Clay and Calhoun Counties were among the youth that signed and addressed the cards.
Youth Advantage program is funded by the Workforce Investment Board - Mid Ohio Valley and works with young women and men, ages 17 to 21, to assist in making wise choices, completing educational goals, and preparing for successful careers.
