Arles William "Bill" Truman, 84, of Morgantown, died Tuesday, Nov. 10, at Ruby Memorial Hospital.
He was born at Oka, the son of the late George and Lula Hughes Truman.
He was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II and attended Potomac State College and West Virginia University, and earned a B.S. degree in social work in 1949. He retired after 39 years as an underwriter and manager at Prudential Insurance Co. in 1987. He was a member of American Free and Accepted Masons, Joseph Summers Lodge #173, Morgantown, and a 45-year member of Spruce Street United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Betty Lee Hawse Truman; two sons, William M. Truman of Souderton, Pa., and James B. Truman of Westover; one daughter, Elizabeth Ann Guiser of Daytona Beach, Fla.; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl and Denver Truman, and three sisters, Oeta Harold, Ola Truman and Alma Smith.
Services were held at Spruce Street U.M. Church, Morgantown, with Rev. Dr. John E. Allen officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, Lost River.
