Calhoun Christmas Connection
Calhoun Christmas Connection would like to thank all the volunteers and wonderful Calhoun County for the help since June with numerous projects to get the Calhoun Christmas Connection off and running.
To date, volunteers have participated in two road block fundraisers, a car wash, a night at the drive-in, WVU-Basket and ticket raffle, cornbread and chili dinner by the Grantsville Fire Department, basket bingo and quilt raffle.
Trying to get the word out, volunteers have also been present at Alumni Day, the Wood Festival, the Bluegrass Festival, Fun Fest, and three football games. A number of individuals, organizations and churches have also donated to this new endeavor.
Applications for the program were taken the week of October 19-23 at the Grantsville Fire Hall and the Sugar Shack in Arnoldsburg. Applications were also taken during the Saturday Fun Day at Calhoun Middle-High School on October 31st.
This year's project will serve 53 families with 114 children. Letters for eligibility and non-eligibility for the Christmas Connection have been mailed to the families.
Eligibility was determined by taking the total household income and subtracting the total household expenses, if the family had two hundred dollars or more per person remaining at the end of the month after expenses they did not qualify for this year's program.
All applicants, regardless of eligibility, will receive a food basket.
This is an ongoing project throughout the year and as you shop after Christmas, please remember the Christmas Connection and purchase items that can be stored for next year's event such as wrapping paper, bows, Christmas decorations and toys.
Thanks again to everyone who has helped and continue to help us provide a wonderful Christmas to the children and families in Calhoun County.
