ONE THOUSAND CENSUS WORKERS WILL BE HIRED IN WV

(11/12/2009)
The U.S. Census Bureau will hire up to 1,000 temporary part-time workers to conduct the 2010 count in West Virginia.

Workers will be needed to hand-deliver census questionnaires to homes that have post office boxes or are in more rural areas.

Workers will follow up with people who haven't responded by April 1.

Census workers will earn about $12.50 an hour and receive 55 cents a mile reimbursement for mileage.

Applicants must be 18 years of age, have transportation and pass a general aptitude test.

Those interested in applying, call the census jobs line at 1-866-861-2010.

Successful applicants will be offered positions in February.
